For this purpose, the instrument features a pair of tapered, curved jaws that help to traverse narrow spaces. In addition, the inner surfaces of the jaws have very fine serrations that provide enhanced gripping.
Moreover, the Overholt Dissecting and Ligature Forceps features a ratchet system to self-lock the jaws. As a result, the operator can apply different degrees of pressure to prevent vessel or tissue trauma.
