The SURTEX® Speaking Tube help patients to breathe and speak through the neck opening after throat surgeons perform a tracheotomy. Doctors make this opening if there are masses or tumors in the neck that block the normal upper airway. The tubes reduce the sedation needed for long ventilation. In addition, they prevent the infection and pain caused by oral tubes.
Surgeons start by opening and retracting neck tissues to make the neck opening. Then, they insert the SURTEX® Speaking tube in the stoma.
Each set has an outer and an inner tube to offer an ideal function. The doctors fix the outer tube to the neck for stability. Then, they insert the long inner tube to allow easy cleaning and prevent blocks by thick mucus. Furthermore, the device has a pilot to prevent tracheal injury in the first insertion.
This tube has a valve that allows airflow through the natural upper airway during expiration. This reduces the patient’s effort for speaking.
We make a wide variety of the SURTEX® Speaking tubes to suit a range of surgical needs. This range is available from 65 to 90 mm.
SURTEX® Instruments manufacture surgical devices from premium grade stainless steel that you can depend on for years of fine service.

Speaking Tube
The SURTEX® Speaking Tube assists patients with tracheostomy to speak easily. In traditional tracheostomy sets, the patient may need to occlude the outer lumen with their finger to enable phonation to occur. Speaking Tracheostomy Tubes allow phonation in tracheostomy patients without occluding the tube from outside.
- Curved to facilitate passage into the tracheostomy opening.
- Ideal design to reduce the effort for phonation.
- Premium Grade Stainless Steel For Reliable Service.
