SURTEX® Bose Tracheal Retractors help surgeons to open airways in the front of the neck in cases of upper airway disease. In addition, patients can breathe through this opening instead of using tubes in the mouth.
Surgeons use the device to keep the opening in the neck wide during tube insertion. This prevents damaging the back of the airways with sharp forces. Using the retractor makes your hands free for more vital steps in the procedure.
We designed the handles with a U-like profile to allow equal retraction in two directions. Moreover, its finger pads prevent accidental slips and injuries.
The prongs have curved ends to avoid tissue tears and vessel injury. You can place the two symmetrical ends between the skin edges to keep the wound open. In addition, the slender shafts allow you to see the underlying tissues clearly.
This figure of the SURTEX® Bose Tracheal Dilator is 7 cm in size. In addition, its thin frame allows you to pass the jaws easily into small areas. SURTEX® Laborde and Trousseau dilators are also available for your convenience.
SURTEX® Instruments manufacture these devices from premium grade stainless steel that you can depend on for years of fine service.

Bose Tracheal Retractor
SURTEX® Bose Tracheal Retractor assists surgeons to obtain a self-retaining opening in tracheotomy procedures. It facilitates the visualization of the anterior tracheal wall by displacing the sternohyoid muscles laterally, thus exposing the cricothyroid membrane and the cricoid cartilage. Tracheostomy surgeries are done either in an emergency setting to relieve upper airway obstruction or as elective procedures for ventilation in long standing respiratory disease.
- Spring U-shape handle for bilateral retraction of tracheal tissues.
- Oval finger pads to enhance control and comfort.
- Blunt terminal ends for atraumatic manipulations.
