SURTEX® Hartmann (French) Tuning Forks assist otologists during ear examinations. The fork’s design and features allow an ideal assessment of hearing loss.
For an optimal function, each fork consists of two prongs, a shoulder, a stem and a base. To produce the vibrations, the doctor strikes the prongs on a hard surface, and the weights on the prongs produce a frequency of 16 Hz.
With these vibrations, you can carry out the Rinne and Weber hearing tests. For instance, place the prongs close to the ear to assess air conduction. Then, place the base on the mastoid process to assess bone conduction.
For your convenience, a set of forks are available to produce different frequencies, ranging from C 16 to C 256.
SURTEX® Instruments manufacture from resilient stainless steel materials that guarantee reliable service in otology procedures.
