SURTEX® Koenig Tuning Forks help doctors to examine the ear and test for different types of hearing loss. In addition, they evaluate vibration sensation during nerve examinations.
For optimal performance, the ratios of the shoulder, stem and plastic foot of this fork ensure balance and control.
To produce vibrations, hold the foot and strike the prongs on a hard surface. Then, place the prongs at right angles to the ear to test air conduction. Following that, place the base on the mastoid to test bone conduction.
Furthermore, the two prongs have adjustable dampers from A to g. Therefore, if you set the damper at the A mark, it produces a frequency of 109 Hz.
Also, you can use this tool to examine for vibration sense. To do that, place it on the patient’s sternum or the base of the toe. To stop the vibrations, just place the prongs in your closed palm.
SURTEX® Instruments manufacture Koenig tuning forks from the finest quality of stainless steel to provide trustworthy service in your otology and neurology examinations.
